Just finished Columbus' ship, the caravel Pinta. Like the Niña I posted a while back, it was built out of the box (except for the sewing thread rigging) from an old Pyro molding from 1966.

Nice one. I have the Pyro Ark Royal kit, which I ought to have a go at.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

That oldie has polished up very well indeed in your capable hands Tim. Excellent paint work and detailing. I can also see from the top of your thumb in shot on the first photo that this is a small model. What scale is it?

Thanks everyone for your kind comments!
Shaun, since the dimensions of the original Pinta are not precisely known it isn't really possible to state the scale of the model either, but I'd say at five inches long it is about 1/150 scale... or so!

Re: Columbus' ship Pinta
Lovely little tub. Clearly Columbus and his crew had some guts weathering the Atlantic in that tiny ship. I still fondly recall my old Lindberg Santa Maria with those funny vacformed sails. Wish I still had it. But I do have an unbuilt Lindberg 'Elsie' Glouster Fisherman in the stash. Hmm............
