Italeri Super Sara

If it goes on or under the wet stuff and doesn't fly, it's in here.

Italeri Super Sara

Post by Purplethistle »

Be gentle with me, this is the first boat I've attempted since I was at school! (clue- flares were "in")

I've seen this on your WW thread PT and you've done a great job of it. Similarly, I haven't built a ship since I was at school. Clue - flares, platform soles and "three star" jumpers (remember those?) were the height of fashion :ha:
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Work is the curse of the modelling classes!

Many thanks chaps, The kit pretty much fell together, the hassle was the painting instructions (or lack of detail therein) and finding photos of the Sara in '69 where I could see how all the sticky-up and sticky-out bits around the big chimney bit should look. (I'm not very nautical :-D )

 I know some old salts that would consider keel-hauling for talk like that

Very nicely done vignette of Super Sara, well done!!! ;-) ;-)
Been modelling for years, still learning . . . .

Thanks for the kind words guys, I wanted to do a decent job of the Sara because a pal served aboard her. If it was not for a timed Group Build and I had taken more time to plan it out I would have cut out the JBDs before assembly and positioned a couple of them up and had one of the SLUFs taking off

.... No doubt!
Right from the start calling a carrier a 'boat' would have probably got me a flogging before the big sticky-up pole!

......oh bugger! I've done it again! :ha:

Superb work - a lovely diorama. I can feel the wind blowing down the length of the flight deck.

I still love flares (but don't tell a soul!) :ha:
