I seriously wouldn't bother with the earlier Typhoon class sub kits as they are all desperately inaccurate. This is down to earlier kits coming out when there was only limited information available about these vessels. The HobbyBoss kit is as good as it gets if you want to build one of these and the conversion work to create a Red October wouldn't be too onerous.
