1:600 Conte di Savoia

If it goes on or under the wet stuff and doesn't fly, it's in here.

That's looking lovely, how have you constructed the hull?
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

I cut out the plan at the waterline and a profile that I use as the spine. Then I add cross sections and plate the skeleton. Here are some pics of the SS Independence build.

Blimey! That's proper modelling that is!

Cracking work, I'm looking forward to seeing this progress!

Cheers for sharing how you did the hull, that's not dissimilar to a couple of card models I built.

What made you pick 1:600 as a scale?

Well ... I had built some fifteen 1:600 airfix ships and just kept going. I started years ago when 1:700 wasn't so popular and 1:350 didn't exist. !:600 gives a model of a decent size but still small enough to allow a good collection. I've close to 40 ships now (some big some small) all to 1:600 .....

Finally!

Conte di Savoia is finished. Here are some pics. Sorry about the poor quality. I'll try taking some more later.

My goodness. That is SO impressive. Both the basic shape making and the final detail are incredible.
