Revell 1/146 USS Constitution 05472

If it goes on or under the wet stuff and doesn't fly, it's in here.

Revell 1/146 USS Constitution 05472

Post by chrism »

I have recently completed this tall ship. I had been going to bin it, but before doing so did wonder whether, given the low number of tall ship kits that get started and even fewer that get finished, whether it would be appreciated and given a new home on the Revell SIG table in future. Al was keen to have her if I finished her, so here she is, and she will be on whatever Revell SIG show tables Al chooses to take her too and show her at.

The model here is totally OOB even down to the rigging thread and paper flags supplied. The kit dates from 1955 and went together well, with no need for filler. The PIA and downside with the kit was all the flash and clean up that everything needed.
It did come with some plastic sails but I resolutely refuse to use those, preferring to leave my models as I build on stands in "harbour rig" rather than "full sail" which looks best displayed in a water base

That's a cracking looking finish and should make a striking exhibit; great work!
Best wishes

Oh that is a beauty Chris and I'm so glad that you persevered and didn't bin it! The kit might be ancient but in your capable hands it has polished up very nicely indeed 8-)

Great job, Chris. I remember going around her: the thing that really surprised me was how high the bulwarks (the green painted bits!) around the upper deck were -- I couldn't see over them standing on the deck, and I bet I'm taller than the average early-nineteenth century seaman...

bestest,
M.

Awww, gutted for you - I only wanted it if it had sails on :ha: :ha: :ha:

That looks bloody gorgeous Chris and will look great on the Revell SIG table (Farnborough show in September next) - just the kind of variety of subject I was looking for. Many thanks for taking the time and effort to complete it - you've gotta pleased with that one haven't you?! 8-)

Cheers
Al.

Many thanks to those of you who have taken a look and added kind comments.
Relieved it meets with Al's approval and standards. I shall get her boxed up and handed over in September at Farnborough.
