Hey All
I mentioned in a previous post that I have been working my way through a pile of part-completed kits that had sat in storage at my mum's house in the UK for around 20 years before I had them shipped over to Australia (where I live) last year. I have already posted a Saab Draken and a T34 which had finally got to completion. Having done Air and Land, I thought I would go for Sea this time round. So, for your delectation, the latest kit to arrive at whoa from a go in the last century is the Airfix 1/600 Admiral Graf Spee. This one is probably nudging 25 years from start to finish.
My philosophy is, where possible, to leave as much of my original work in place (rather than stripping it back and starting again). In this case, I had painted the main deck (thankfully including all the myriad small, grey lumps and bumps) and the hull (other than the boot topping and crest).
Like most German ships of WW2, the Graf Spee boasts pleasing lines and makes a nice-looking kit.
Regards
Springy

I really like that one. I have a few of these Airfix 1/600 ships in various stages. Hope they look this good when they're finished.

I'd say that cleaned up pretty well.

Nice looking build. Excellent finish
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale
