1/700th USS Nevada in 1938 fit

Blue Ridge Models out of Blue Ridge, Georgia, has released a model of both the USS Oklahoma and USS Nevada as they appeared during the attack on Peal Harbor; December 7, 1941. I already have models of the USS California, USS Arizona, and USS Maryland in Measure 1 (5-D Dark Grey to top of stack and 5-L Light Grey above) and wanted something different. The Blue Ridge model is set up so that the splinter shields for the 5"25 AA mounts are photo etch brass and the gun tubs are separate pieces. I was inspired to back date the ship to her 1938 appearance in pre-war Standard Navy Grey. All I needed to do was to leave off the gun tubs and splinter shields, replace the kit OS2U Kingfishers with SOC Seagulls, and paint her in pre-war colors. ladies and Gentlemen, I present:

As with all my naval subjects,the ship was painted with White Ensign Colourcoats.

I wonder how they moved the spare aircraft from the turret onto the stern catapult?

Turret 3 has a catapult as well. Some pictures had the extra two aircraft stored on the turret catapult when not doing flight ops. I have seen the third aircraft sitting next to the turret in other photos from that era.

Excellent work Chuck, that really has turned out very nicely and the decals on the Seagulls must be very tiny but they really finish the aircraft off. As a matter of interest, are the decks a wooden veneer?

Thanks, the kit comes with wood decks. All you have to do is pop them off the backing and apply to the hull.
