Airfix Bismark

If it goes on or under the wet stuff and doesn't fly, it's in here.

Airfix Bismark

Post by vacant »

Not really my scene - it's a restoration of a kit made originally by my son when he was about 13. It has been in the attic for about 25 years. Parts were missing or broken, the assembly was not the best and the painting was what one might expect from a 13 year old. I did not want to spend long on it so I didn't. The paint scheme I used may not be accurate. It more an amalgam than a historic record. The sea base measures 19 inches by 10 inches to fit the Swordfish as well. They came from the Airfix Ark Royal.

Now, back to the serious stuff.

Is there anything you can't restore for heaven's sakes?!!
That looks fantastic!
The setting and the black and white photography work really well, although it seems to have lost the rigging on the Swordfish...... :ha:
Best wishes

All rigging was shot away during the attack.

Nice work as always Mr. Vacant. I have a half finished Tirpitz on the Shelf of Shame; now I am wondering where to get my mitts on some Barracudas and Hellcats to try an Operation Tungsten variation of your vivid depiction.
