Splash's Telford builds

If it goes on or under the wet stuff and doesn't fly, it's in here.

What a pain PE is in 1:600 scale, but it does make a difference to the look of the new bridge.

The railings are taking forever to add, after an excellent conversation with a gent at the Yeovilton model show he explained that he used PVA glue and did about one inch at a time and his ships in 1:700 scale looked stunning so I have followed his advice and it seems to work.

I'm not totally convinced that the work is worth the effort but it's good practice befor I start adding the PE to my 1:500 scale HMS Plymouth.

More scratch building on the rear mast and funnel tops using 0.16mm steel wire for the crane rigging and funnel detail

Using wire for rigging is easier than I thought and quite effective.

Such great work here, Alan. Just curious though as to what your plans for the original kit superstructure might be.

I hadn't given it much thought, I suspect the unused parts will finish up in the spares tin.

Unless you can think of a better use?

Well I don't know, really. Are they remotely usable to convert an Airfix Repulse into Renown, for instance?

I'm not familiar with the differences between the two but as I have the Repulse it's something I will look into.

Cheers for planting the seed, if I go mad I now know who to blame. :-D

After a quick rummage on the Internet, you might be onto something, I can see the resemblance between the two structures, this will need further investigation.

Now where did they put my medication?

Ha ha ha! It was just a thought, and anyway considering your talents at conversion work on these ships I should think that turning Repulse into Renown is well within your abilities.

After the success with the .16mm wire I ordered some .09mm wire and found it is even better and at less than £3 for 200 metres excellent value.

The thinner wire was used for the signal flag lines.

I had been putting off painting the flightdeck on the Plymouth as it required painting a 11mm circle and several 1mm white lines, but today I came up with a cunning plan of using my ScaNcut to cut a 11mm circle and a 9mm disc to use as a mask, then I cut up two 1mm wide strips of white decal and bobs your uncle, flightdeck sorted.
