1/144 Revell AG Type 206a Submarine U-24

If it goes on or under the wet stuff and doesn't fly, it's in here.

1/144 Revell AG Type 206a Submarine U-24

Post by Marek »

And now for something very different ... The first large scale sub under 1/350 I have attempted to do. U24 of Type 206a coastal sub from Deutsche Bundesmarine. Used Vallejo primers (grey and black) and a mixture (~10-1) of neutral grey and raw sienna for the unusual overall color. It has a definite reddish tint when in certain lighting conditions. I was sceptical as to what exactly Revell wanted me to mix but experimented some and they got it really spot on. It did bring me a very entertaining distraction from usual projects.

For a sub is has quite an interesting shape, very whale like.

James, I agree with you, there is something definitely whale-ish about their silhouettes.

That looks fantastic Marek, excellent painting and subtle weathering have really put life into it.
