Really tidy build. You've done justice to this old classic kit, John. I'm seriously thinking of making a little one in resin. 1/1200.

Better to fettle than to fill

Thanks, guys, but it's time to admit it won't make it to SMW, much to my shame -- again.

But I've had enough of starting & not finishing -- this will stay front & center, all by itself, on the bench until it is finished.

I really like odd and unusual subject matter for models, so this is quite appealing to me. It's coming along nicely and I look forward to seeing its completion.

Plodding along .... here's the final test fit.

The cabin deck to hull will need a bit of filler & sanding at the edges but other than that, fine.

So, the plan is:
-- check everything for paint or decal problems, etc, and fix - do not rush.
-- take it back to the 3 main pieces -- hull, cabin deck, pilot house -- and spray a varnish coat on all 3 and let dry well.
-- make port/window "glass", a combo of Kleer and clear sheet, carefully and let dry well.
-- assemble the 3 main pieces and fill/fix the cabin-hull join; repair/retouch as needed.
-- do the photoetch railings and ladders; touch up.
-- do some rigging; touch up.

There are a few tiny pieces and some PE detail (boat falls, blocks on mast & boom, etc) that get added along the way.
Make a proper stand. I am thinking of the kit stand in a Tamiya rattlecan metal black and very careful brush paint of the raised ships name and other info in a gold or something.

Avoid dropping it ....

It's always good to have a plan..... not dropping it being possibly the better part of yours!
Loving this so far John and looking forward to the finish very much

It was good to take the picture -- I then saw I had missed a tall pipe or something that runs up along the mast -- fixed now.

Only a gap of a month here :) but a couple-plus weeks were holiday so they don't count.

If you look back, there was a sixish step "plan" and we are into the last two steps -- ladders (4 of 8 are on), railings, and rigging.

I think I have the stand done, I forget where I put it.
Anyway, with a bit of luck, I should close out 2017 with this finished.

John, you've made a little gem of that one.

PS - she does look awfully clean. Are you depicting her newly in service?
