Fujimi 1/700 scale IJNS Sakura kit no. D045

If it goes on or under the wet stuff and doesn't fly, it's in here.

Fujimi 1/700 scale IJNS Sakura kit no. D045

Post by FAAMAN »

IJNS Sakura 1/700scale Fujimi kit no. D045.
The kit is under 150mm long.
Sakura was the thirteenth Matsu class Type-D Destroyer launched 25 November 1944, sunk by a mine in the port of Osaka 11 July 1945
Built during 1992 (exactly the same kit as IJNS Matsu) with far better replacement guns, ships' boats & davits from a Skywave-PitRoad detailing set. Rigging etc done as per my IJNS Matsu with the same probs occurring. I badly damaged the foremast, rigging and details when removing this model from it's storage to take pics for the original post I did on the ATF. It's took two weeks to make a new foremast from brass and re-rig the model with 0.05mm fishing line blackened with a sharpie pen. Due to the references I have now I discovered how incorrect the foremast, rigging and details were (the kits' actually not very accurate) so I built a more acceptable foremast and some details, it's not 100% correct still but it looks a lot better than her sister Matsu, and is closer to the prototype warship.
