Plastic sails

If it goes on or under the wet stuff and doesn't fly, it's in here.

Plastic sails

Post by DH-Drover »

I have got to the stage with La Nina where I need to think about attaching the sails to the spars.
My thoughts are to use masking tape and heavy/medium thread to reinforce the edge as on the old Pusers Whalers,
(Montague type) and attach in the same way.

Thoughts?

If you twist two strands of very fine copper wire in a drill it could be stuck on the edge of the sails, the benefits of using twisted wire instead of thread is that it keeps the sail shape and would give support if you stitch the sail to the spare using thread.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

If you have sails, then you have sailors, send 'em up to tighten the sails, it's their job :)
