Skywave 1/700 sdcale JMSDF Asakaze DDG169 kit 42/SW-1200

If it goes on or under the wet stuff and doesn't fly, it's in here.

Skywave 1/700 sdcale JMSDF Asakaze DDG169 kit 42/SW-1200

Post by FAAMAN »

Hi all! Second of three sisters, all Skywave.

As all three ships in this class are from the same molds with almost no noticeable differences between the sisters apart from a modified bridge front on DDG170 (not built yet). The two kits I've built so far (DDG168 & DDG169) were very good kits with no problems apart from me not having the correct hull colour going too light instead of using a darker grey. I added the whip aerials as modern ships usually have a forrest of these after weathering lightly by dry brushing. My mistake with this model was painting the 3D radar aerial Lt.grey as that's what it looked like in my photo ref, it was actually weathered black, so a black grey would've been correct.

JMSDF Asakaze DDG169 1/700 scale Skywave kit 42/SW-1200.
Built 14Aug1993 at the same time as DDG168. All Three sisters have now been decommissioned.
