Revell USS Enterprise CVN 65 1/720 Scale

If it goes on or under the wet stuff and doesn't fly, it's in here.

Revell USS Enterprise CVN 65 1/720 Scale

Post by jamesaw »

Started this 20 years ago and finally finished it this Spring. Aircraft are Trumpeter and Revell, decals from Starfighter decals (ship and airwing) and etched brass from Gold Medal Models and Flyhawk. The COD was built from a Tamiya 1/700 Mitchell-wing nacelles and length are almost spot on so I just built the tail.

Fantastic, but why isn't the lower hull red?

Thanks guys! The ship as built apparently had the lower hull painted in an epoxy paint that was an olive green shade. When she was hauled out of the water next (I'm guessing for the island rebuild in the late '70's) red was applied. I couldn't resist the green just because it was so unusual (and apparently correct for the timeframe).

Regards,

Howard

That must have been a real labour of love and what a fantastic result. I doubt I would have had the patience to complete that, even over 20 years
