USS Michigan, BB-27, 1915 in 1/700th scale

If it goes on or under the wet stuff and doesn't fly, it's in here.

USS Michigan, BB-27, 1915 in 1/700th scale

Post by Chuck Finley »

The USS Michigan was actually designed before HMS Dreadnought and was the first battleship with four main gun turrets and actually had the same broadside as Dreadought with one less turret. However, Dreadnought was launched first and gave her name to the category of new battleships. The model is by Samek and if you want any of the early American dreadnoughts, get them now as Samek has shut it's doors yeat again.

The Michigans did not make it to England during World War I as they were too slow. Instead, they served with the American pre-dreadnoughts as escorts.
On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!

The dark hull and superstructure colours makes this and your other build appear very unusual. It looks less a battleship and more a floating gun emplacement.

Looks fantastic, Chuck. Always liked the Michigan, and the US Navy dreadnoughts in general. I didn't realise how short and squat they were. Make it look a bit like Fort Drum in Manila Bay, or is it the other way around?
