Revell 1/1200 Midnatsol and Trollfjord

If it goes on or under the wet stuff and doesn't fly, it's in here.

Revell 1/1200 Midnatsol and Trollfjord

Post by Sissel »

These were a real pain despite small part count and perfect fit. It is simply almost impossible to paint windows and details on such small models. They almost fit in my palm! When you have shaking hands as well, it proves more difficult and it's bound to be a mess no matter what.
Therefore the windows just look awful, but better than if it been all white I suppose.
Like Belfast, I lost my patience with these as well and just wanted a quick finish.

Trollfjord was missing the decal sheet, so only one picture here. Didn't bother much with this model, will be put in a closet.

Impressive. A tip for such windows in future - a black wash might work well.

Thank you Paul and Blohm.

Thanks for the tip Paul, but I'm afraid can't see how I could use a wash on the windows. It would float everywhere it shouldn't as it's so thin. Had scale been a little bigger and windows deeper it might have worked for me. The bridge would have been the worst problem, a wash would just run all over as there's hardly any place for it to sit. Then given my shaky hands. Which is a big problem for me with such little details. ;-)
Canopy frames is nothing compared to this!

I can, with the hand on my heart, say this is the smallest scale I've ever built in, and will ever build in. I do have three others in this scale, but they are much bigger, and does seem a tad bit easier to build.
