HMS Prince of Wales

If it goes on or under the wet stuff and doesn't fly, it's in here.

HMS Prince of Wales

Post by Ratch »

It came in a Frog/Airfix box with the code NF-4002 as HMS Prince of Wales, but the mouldings and instructions (with additions) are the Airfix KGV even down to the ship's name on the stern. This and the de-gaussing cable were removed and the UPs changed for 2pdr pom-poms

Excellent! I haven't made a 1/600 ship for about, oh 37 years
Perhaps, inspired by your builds it's about time I rectified that! Really like the bases too
Best wishes

Very impressive especially with the seascape.
I haven't made a ship since the Airfix HMS Nelson when I was 12.
Might have to change that having seen what you've done.

Very nice Ratch. I've been watching this on your workbench thread and it's turned out an absolute peach.

The base really sets it off too, in a way that a stand never can 8-) .

Don't hold your breath but I got the Revell HMS Kelly and Duke of York in 1/700.
Don't know if the kits are any good but the price wasn't too bad.

The two are the old Matchbox kits, they are not bad but lack fine detail.

For example, the decks of DoY will have no wood grain, but be smooth.

You can build a nice replica with them:

Great work and excellent bases, I like the touch with the plane, adds life to the build.
Am working one a waterline ship myself with a clay base, but I can`t match your base, excellent.
Best from Ivan
