Great progress Splash. The lack of smelly glue and paint allows you to build one of these in the comfort of your favourite armchair by the looks
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

It does indeed, I'm starting to see what Simon said on one of his card builds, once you have cut out the parts, the build is similar to a plastic build except if you make a mistake you just print it again.ShaunW wrote:Great progress Splash. The cost to date is only three sheets of printed card and some scrap thicker card plus two short evening sessions. If my frames are too thick its no great loss to start again. The lack of painting is a real bonus when working on this small scale.

Re: Card 1:1200 Titanic
Progress is pleasantly swift, all the frames have been mounted and the fwd and aft decks stuck in place.
The next part will be fun as I have to make the curved stern then start the skinning of the hull from the rear going forward.
I have removed the hull from the temporary base and will wait for it to fully set before I attempt to skin the hull.
In the photo the Titanic has just been placed on the coloured base that comes with the kit, when the kit is finished I will print the base onto gloss photo paper.

What have you got to loose?iggie wrote:That does look impressive......I might have to grow some you know whats and give this paper lark a bash
I'm surprised how easy card is to work with, I thought the stern would be difficult but the design of this kit has made it easy to make quite a complex shape.

Some of the deck seats are printed on the deck so no need to make all the deck chairsDazzled wrote:iggie wrote:jRatz wrote:Do you get a card iceberg ?

Some of the deck parts are very small for example the life boats, so I might cheat and revert to my plastic skills
The main decks are on and it's starting to look more ship shaped
My experience so far is anyone thinking of trying a card model is, try one they are much more fun than I thought they would be.

They look like they could be far more tedious then styreen in some cases but I'm dying to try one. Nice work.

She's looking awesome, Splash..! Using another medium isn't cheating just applying the best tool for the job. Even though there are some paper-only zealots out there that do amazing work, I think that we should be using whatever gives us the result we are after...
Please critique my posts honestly i.e. say what you think so I can learn and improve...

Yes, I looked at the lifeboats; quite a bit of skill needed, repeated many times over ...

Great work Splash and the display base is very effective too - although it doesn't leave a lot of room for the iceberg
