This is the current state of play with the mark2 inverted on the left showing the flap recess and the mark1 to the right showing the remodelled fairing in place.

I kinda like the red nose & tail against the gray fuselage ... with the green wheel wells highlighting it all ...

I am working on tailplanes and ailerons just now john and when they are done the multi-coloured effect will vanish under a uniform hue.

The airfame is now complete, what now needs to be done is to scratch the dinghy carriers, dinghies and the turret and paint and decal the model for final assembly and completion. Up until now the two models have been built together, from now on the mark two will be put to one side until this model the ASR mark one is complete. I have only just found an image of the type 'M' dinghy pack fitted to a carrier, not unfortunately on a Defiant but fitted to a Lysander and its' appearance surprised me as I expected a cylindrical object similar to the air-dropped supply cannister and not a block shaped one.

What is that tan substance at the wing root?
It is a visible wing root fairing made by applying a layer of a thick variety of Revell Aqua paint.

A picture of the Defiant ASR stores carriers was found online as an eleventh hour discovery, The carriers and dinghy packs are now finished and ready for painting and are shown here loosely placed on the wing to display how they will look when fitted. The resin parts are coated in a pale shade of enamel ready for the grey acrylic primer/undercoat.

Been otherwise occupied and will not finish the second aircraft in time for the finish, this will go in the queue for my workbench window page. The ASR.1 is coming along now, the basic airframe is complete and base camouflage has been put down. The next step will be to apply varnish for the decals and when they are on matt varnish over them, after that the external fittings such as canopy, turret, undercarriage, dinghies will be fitted.

The decals are on now, I normally print my own decals for such things as serials but am currently having printer issues which prevent this at the moment, therefore I have painted them on freehand in order to complete the model for the end of the GB and I will correct this with a pair of decals later. The undercarriage legs are in place with bracing struts and retraction jacks from stretched sprue which also provide the model with antenaes and pitot, also the dinghy carriers are now glued in position. To the right of the model I have placed the freshly vac formed canopies which now need cutting out of the sheet to be trimmed.
