I'm not showing you mine because you have made yours bigger than mineOld_Tonto wrote:I'll show you mine if you show me yours
I have now added the new nose and taken off the raised part behind the turret, to fill the hole I have glued an oversized pice of plastic card that I plan to rub down and blend in.

Re: Splash's Mk?
OK enough work has been done to show you some progress, the nose is on and I have removed the ramp behind the turret and replaced it with a strip of plastic and then rubbed it down.
I thought before I cut the tail off I would rub off the thick ribs and see what it looked like and to my surprise it looks OK, I know it not the right shape but as I'm not a perfectionist or have any scale drawings I'm going to leave it as it is.

Good job.
I wish I had thought of that with the tail.

Re: Splash's Mk?
I now have the basics of the kit all put together, I found the ailerons aren't the best fitting part of the kit and needed a skim over with filler to get them to blend into the wing.
Haveing looked at Dirks build, I like what he is doing with the area behind the turret, but I'm too lazy to try something like that, so I'm going to try a different approach, I'm going to mask the area then paint ribs on with liquid filler, then depending on the results scrib the panel line back on.

Re: Splash's Mk?
Slow progress due to other commitments, but progress is progress.
tonight I scribed some panel lines to the rear of the turret using plastic tape as a guide and finally decided what colour to paint it, after several changes of mind from green/brown/black & white to all black I have gone for the green/brown/sky as supplied in the box.

I just spotted the date only one day to go so I had better pull my finger out and do a bit of a blitz.

Re: Splash's Mk?
I'm running out of time fast and I have to work on my Dennis Fire Engine so I'm declaring this one a failure to finish
Credit when credit Is due Airfix are using excellent decals when re issuing these old kits, these went on with no problems and have settled down well.

Re: Splash's Mk?
I have not given up yet just stopped for supper.
Only u/c to add to call it finished. I nicked the prop off an Airfix Spitfire I/II working on the principle that when I build the kit I will use the two bladed prop.
