Quite right Bruce, its evergreen 30 thou strip cut and bent to shape. Simple enough to do, it is just very time consuming. To help keep things neat I have been using a Touch and Flow tool to get the liquid cement in exactly the right place.

Great detailing going on there Martin. I hope it can be seen to be appreciated once the fuselage is together.

Fortunately quite a lot can be seen if the cargo hatch is left open.Molly-new wrote:Great detailing going on there Martin. I hope it can be seen to be appreciated once the fuselage is together.

Re: Martin's Belvedere
I didn't have as much time as I would have liked to work on the model today but here is a quick update on what I have managed to get done. I finished doing the structure on the port side of the fuselage and made a start on the starboard. Here it is critical that care is taken to ensure that the frames on both sides meet at the top of the fuselafe interior. Now this has been accomplished it should not take too long to finish doing the rest of the structure.
I also cut up a disposable plastic plate and used this to represent the quilted sound proof padding around the forwad engine compartment, its a bit hard to see oin the pictures but you will get a better impression when this area gets painted and dry brushed.

That's a great idea to get that texture with the paper plate.

Re: Martin's Belvedere
Thanks Guys, the plates are actually plastic. They come with different sizes of texturing so I keep a pack of each type in stock for use in different scales. The beauty of them is that the plastic is the same type as the plastic card we all use sothey are compatable with both tube and liquid cement.

That looks great Martin and the plastic plate material has worked a treat. That could be more useful household stuff for me to look out for and squirrel away then, as well as clear plastic packaging and the like - there'll be nothing left for the recycling bin at this rate

Re: Martin's Belvedere
Not too much to get excited about tonight chaps. I have been working the last couple of days and this has obviously cramped my style as regards modelling. I have been mostly concentrating on getting the model re-scribed. My weapons of choice for this are Scotch Blue masking tape as recommended by the incomparable Mike Grant, a good quality steel ruler and a Tamiya scriber, backed up with a Bare Metal tool for more inaccessable bits.
Anyway, just for form's sake here is a picture of the work in progress.

PS: I keep thinking about those stringers I was planning to leave out..............talk me out of this guys!

Re: Martin's Belvedere
Think of the additional detail those stringers will give Martin, seems like a shame to leave them out really - a ha'porth of tar etc etc

Think about finishing, you've given yourself plenty to do and I really want to see how this one turns out.

My gut feeling is that Shaun is right. I don't have much to do tomorrow so I think I will chain myself to the modelling bench and see if I can get the stringers on inbetween working on my Telford stuff.

Re: Martin's Belvedere
That was my poor attempt at a joke Martin It's your model, put in as much work as you see fit. It's looking very good as it is.
