Titan's sand shark***FINISHED***
The usual opening shots
This is the old Monogram mold and looks decent enough the raised lines are fine and will be staying on in this build.
Decals.
A nice set of decals added to this model, I like both schemes thus I am undecided on which to build.
Jeff (jssel) is also building this copter as the Sand Shark so I may build mine as the IAF Cobra but this will depend on having a brown close enough for that machine, decisions decisions.
Instructions.
Pretty standard and I am looking forward to starting this.
Regards
Mark

Re: Titan's sand shark or Israeli snake
Welcome aboard Mark. This looks to be a nice kit and it'll be interesting to see how you and Jeff approach building it.

Hi Mark. This should be a shared build. You probably already guessed it but it will be a "tail setter."
I might also point out that on the Cobra, the rear seat (pilot) canopy opens on the right side as well, the front seat (pilot/gunner) opens on the left side. The kit make it a difficult cut.
No doubt you knew all of that so please except this in the spirit it is intended.
I'll be watching how you do things.
P.S. Nice Commanche. I did my as a Whiff belonging to the Royal Marines.

Re: Titan's sand shark or Israeli snake
Thanks Jeff.
I have discovered from my previous helicopter builds that have skids for landing gear that it is necessary to have some weight in the front to stop them sitting back on them so that was always going to be the case with this build.
The canopy opening differently at the back and front though I did not know if I am honest but had intended to build it with the canopy closed as this would have made masking easier.( I'm lazy like that.. )
This would have been nice as a shared build but if you have an old Monogram apache kicking around then I'd be happy to do one with that kit sometime.
Thanks again for the info and roll on tomorrow.

Now that is nice. I have a thing for IDF kit so the snake would get my vote. I will be watching this one with interest.

That's OK Mark, but I thought I'd better check - it wouldn't be the first time someone has started a GB early this year, naming no names of course

Re: Titan's sand shark or Israeli snake
Ooo I vote Israeli Snake, gotta like a big snake on a Cobra. If the base scheme is that Israeli sand colour with a brown it's very attractive too.
Looks a really nice kit, be a bit on the tiny size after that Hurricane won't it?
Cheers
Jim

Re: Titan's sand shark or Israeli snake
Thanks Jim and yes after the Hurricane it does seem a bit small.
If the paint that I ordered is a good match for the IAF scheme then that will be the one that I will build, should be here on Wednesday so I am going to finish off the P-51D that is nearly completed on the bench while I am waiting rather than start the Cobra, there is plenty of time to get this chopper completed.

Those could be famous last words Mark and certainly ones I dare not utter with my GB finish recordTitan wrote: there is plenty of time to get this chopper completed.
I hope the paint is good as I think the Israeli version would be a good choice.

Re: Titan's sand shark or Israeli snake
Wow that's the first time I have been kicked off onto a second page of a GB, I must be slacking be great to see these all built though. .
I have actually put paint to plastic and started the cockpit.
Sprayed first with Tamiya nato black.
Then drybrushed with Tamiya metalic grey. The seats were painted with Revel paints as per instructions and the decals were added to the IP and other areas around the cockpit which were then subjected to some Micro sol to bed them down snuggly on their respective Ip's.
I will tomorrow finish off the seat belt buckles with some silver and then add the control levers etc.
Then a little more drybrushing and the hoses at the back of the seats will need to be painted a light brown.
By the way nothing is glued down in the following two photos as these are just to show the cockpit as it is at the moment, a dry fit as it were.

Great looking cockpit. It'll be really effective under that big canopy.

That looks really good Mark. I am also languishing on Page 2, I haven't had the chance to get the kit out of the box since I took the initial thread photos, looks like a weekend start for me now
