Saxon's Huey UH-1B ***FINISHED***

Our 3rd helicopter GB .... odd for a Forum that favors airplanes that actually fly and not those gangly objects that must instead be flown ....

Saxon's Huey UH-1B ***FINISHED***

Post by Saxon »

Going to build the Italeri UH-1B in RAAF markings. The box comes with peace time markings (olive drab with white roof) and I have decals for a Vietnam version which is all over OD. The peacetime version is appealing to me though. So I will see how it goes.

Pics soon.

Always nice to see a Huey, Saxon and it will be good to see an Aussie version for a change.

Not much will happen for a few days but thought I would post the box and back of box. I've decided on the back of box scheme 9 Sqn at home before Vietnam deployment a few years later

Ok made a start, here are some pics, have to add some green to the seat cushions but the interior is basically done. Will paint the outside of the fuselage before closing it up as well to save having to mask the door windows. I lost the kit control panel to the carpet monster so made a new one although it is basic it will do.

Thanks Shaun.

Another progress pic, added a winch from the Italeri UH-1D kit which Aussie Hueys had at the time and painted the exterior of the fuselage, I will leave one door open hence why it is not stuck on at the moment.

I've just had a quick back track up to your box shots and I think this machine will look good in the Aussie scheme. I notice the scheme is from 1961 as well, the year of my birth

That's looking good, and the Aussie peacetime scheme adds a nice touch of colour too.

Cheers

I've almost finished it, just need to apply decals, had an issue with paint getting onto the windscreen will need to replace it but will finish it soon with windscreen temp in place.

Good man Saxon it'll be great to have the Huey in the finisher's gallery. You've got until midnight 2nd December (GMT) to finish her up.

Asides from the windscreen which I buggered up with paint smears it is done, so will replace that when the new one arrives and calling it done for the GB.

Excellent Saxon, great to see a Huey in the finisher's enclosure and a good choice of markings too - I'll call it finished for GB purposes as well, what's a buggered up windscreen amongst friends

Well done Saxon, tough break with the windscreen can you take it out and clean it up?

Have you tried scrapping the paint off with a cocktail stick?
