Saxon's Fury ***FINISHED***

Post by Saxon »

Have some time off next week so will start on my Huey for the whirlybirds GB and when my Sea Fury arrives will start on that as well.

The Sea Fury I suspect will be a pretty straightforward build so not expecting any issues.

At present going with the PM T20 as I think that will arrive before the PM T61.

Started on the Sea Fury T20, also have the T61 but not overly impressed with the Iraqi or Pakistani decals the colours seem to be out of the lines and just in general look amateur so will have to look for replacements or go down the What if path.

Will post some pics soon.

This kit is quite basic and it went together so fast that I forgot to stop and take photos! So here is where I am with it now. It will be one of my special blacked out canopy builds, the cockpit consists of a floor and 2 seats. I am thinking about doing the German overall red version at the moment.

All built, realised too late that I fixed the landing gear doors in the wrong position so they sit a little too high but they won't come off and I am not that upset by it to try and prise them off. Ready for the paintshop, have decided on the red West German version.

Canopy is secured with blu tack at the moment hence the gap

Almost done, just need to paint the landing gear and give the props the yellow tips. I painted it red for the West German version as it seemed different. I decalled it yesterday while I was applying decals to my Huey and a couple of other builds.

The other thing on this kit is the frame lines for the canopy are very subtle so you almost have to create your own.

I would have left the wheels off. You're going to have a hell of a job painting the tyres without getting the paint everywhere. I like the red colour - what did you use? My only other build for you would be to do more filling and sanding on that seam down the fuselage. It spoils an otherwise good build.

eeek! that is a rather nasty seam line don't know why it never stood out to me. I have sanded it and buffed and it is less nasty now.

I usually don't have too many issues painting tyres even if they are glued on, just my usual "go fever" when building I think.

I used Gunze H3 Red to paint the plane. The PM instructions calls for Bright Red doesn't give any more than that so figured it would do the trick.

More pics soon
