Paul Bradley's Late PM
What the hey, in for a penny.....
So I shall be tackling the PM FB.11 - keeping my hobby simple at the moment, so this will be basically OOB. I don't like the look of the PM decals, so I'll be using an option from Xtradecals' Sea fury sheet. I've already cut parts from the sprue trees and splashed some black around the interior, such as it is!

Re: Paul Bradley's Late PM
Got some good bench time in yesterday!
No sprue shots or boxart - you all know what they are from other threads. A very simple kit with little detail, but ideal for a quick build to get back into the swing of things.
No much detail in the cockpit, so I added a generic IP and stick, and replaced the pilot's armchair with something a bit less comfy and a bit more military:
With the thick canopy on, you can't see much anyway. Fit of the fuselage is OK, but the wings are quite poor:
I did fill in the gap behind the headrest, as it is un-prototypically empty - there should be a "parcel shelf" back there. Should I add a nodding dog??
Plenty of filler needed at the wing roots:
..and on the undersides:
Not going to bother with re-doing the ultra-shallow wheel wells; this one is strictly OOB from now on.
Still haven't quite decided what scheme to go for, but likely the "Type 1" early scheme of EDSG low on the sides, and probably Dutch navy markings from the Xtradecal sheet. I'm hopig to have the painting done today and to get the decalling and dangly bits done next weekend.

Oi, Jim - watch it or I'll punch you on the mojo......plenty of mojo filler, indeed......
Anyways, no photo update courtesy of a cranky photobucket this weekend.....
Got the sky undersides airbrushed yesterday. Waiting for my den to clear of Metalizer fumes from my Spit build before I venture in for some work on the fiddly bits.

Upper surfaces painted today:
I already painted up the spinner and prop, undercarriage and gear doors, so now it's just a question of putting on the decals and attaching the dangly bits. Might be done this weekend!

Cheers!
Progress over the weekend - the decals are on and she's on her feet. I'll get some photos up tomorrow.

And she's done:
A nice, simple kit, which suits my current modelling state down to a tee....

Cheers, Jim - I do like this Pattern 1 scheme, as it it known, with the EDSG down the sides. There's a terrific photo I have of an FAA one with Korean ID stripes - very unusual. that'll be for my big 1/48 project at some point.

Is the one you mention with Korean ID stripes wearing D type roundels or the earlier ones, pls?

Ditto it's how I did mine. Did the Dutch get these ex-RN or the did Hawkers say it comes in any colour as long as it's EDSG?PaulBradley wrote:Cheers, Jim - I do like this Pattern 1 scheme, as it it known

Re: Paul Bradley's Late PM
Wasn't the FAA historic flight one painted in this scheme (colour not markings) a few years ago, I remember reading an article in Aeroplane or Flypast about it, and how they researched all the stencils and font for the serials etc.
Cheers
