Me too, this is a kit that has often tempted me :)

Righty ho, then...

days of internet scouring and I decided what needed to be done to the innards, taking into account what will actually be seen, once finished. Some scraps of thick plasticard and slices of tube and rod got me a radar-type thingummyjig;

Image

(Painted black and dry-brushed with Stainless Steel).

The pilot acquired a couple of plasticard boxes, attached to the bulkhead behind him;

Image

The very nice belts are provided with the kit;

Image

The i/p is the usual plastic base, painted white, with film applied and PE i/p applied on top. (This had been painted black and dry-brushed with Stainless Steel before application.

Everything in place;

Aided by engraved guidelines on the interior surface, I had to cut off the top of the fin, to allow a new, taller fintip to be added;

Image

Some time was spent making sure everything fitted flush;

Image

Fun was had, adding individual resin cylinders to the rest of the resin engine. This was added to the plastic engine nacelle. Last time I did this kit, I panicked as I thought I'd lost the resin nacelle halves. The instruction sheet numbering scheme said that I should use PUR13 and PUR14. Turned out that the PUR was an error. No such panic occurred this time around...forewarned being forearmed.

Image

The lower halves of the upper wing are to be added next and the engineering of the kit pieces minimises any gappage.

Simple yet effective interior work there Bruce :grin: It please me to have all three of Supermarines last seaplane/amphibians being built in the same GB.

Thanks for the interest chaps.
I'm actually dragging my feet, so that I don't finish first (again). :ha:

Anyhow, here's the upper wing, as viewed from below, with all its resin and PE bits in place.
:bounce:NOTE Be sure to stick the cowling on BEFORE you add the lower portions of the wing, otherwise it's a very, very tight fit. Not impossible, but tight.:bounce:

Paying special attention to the Parts Map, I've got all the right struts in all the right places. The profiles supplied only help with the side elevation and, last time, I had to hunt down a front elevation from Google Image. This time, I just got my old kit out and used it to help me get the angles right.

Some painting next.

That's looking good, how much bigger is the Sea Otter compared to the Walrus?

It's very much the same size, but more refined and less complex, if you get my drift.

The instructions told me to paint the struts Sky (H90);

Image

Then I see the boxart has them as the EDSG! More research required...
I'm using Humbrol H125 for the grey this time.
In the meantime, I added the upper wing and the bigger extra pieces;

Image

This is the arrestor hook, made up of 3 resin pieces and the 4 ordnance racks, made of resin and PE. These will be added AFTER I've painted the undersides and added the underside wing decals! Hah! They're not going to catch me out with that old chestnut (again).

Struts are (almost) always one of the upper colors, probably a grey ....
