Time for one final "HNNNGH!!" (not quite an "AAARGH!!")
The model, she finished (jRatz' decals behaved superbly!)
However, when I went to mount in on the stand (which previously fitted nice and snug and kept the plane in an heroic pose) it now flops around. I've tried the stand facing both ways. I feel this due to one or both of two factors:
1) The increased weight of the finished model
2) The warp in the fuselage has come back to haunt me a bit: a small seam has opened up top and bottom.. I fear the slot is wider than it was.

Going to try to shim the slot.. but if anyone has a quick and ingenious fix I'm all ears..

A thin rectangle of plasticard, glued over the slot, with a slice in it.
The stand tab goes through the slice and the plasticard grips it.

If you don't want to hide the plasticard on your model, make a plasticard 'cradle' to sit on top of the stand's tab.

Bruce

I believe I had this problem, if not with this kit, with another similar.

I glued a very thin strip to the upright tab on stand, making it thicker and it that seemed to tighten things up.

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.

And here it is..

Guess it turned into a Kleenex Kit after all: attempting to thicken the connection of the stand just served to cause the underside to split more (there is no way in heck you're seeing the underside!)

I've glued the stand on. Simple as that. (hangs head in shame)

Other than that, this has been a learning build for me: working with rattlecans for the first time, trying to deal with warped plastic, working with (for me) a large model... I'll do better next time.

Before I sign this one off: massive thanks to jRatz for sending me his spare decals in my moment of crisis and otherwise being an all-round top bloke.

Yeah that John sure is a top guy! And this is a great finish on a classic kit, good job.
