Sign-up and Chat- 'cos we've started !

Post by JohnRatzenberger »

A continuation of the 'Lend-Lease Equipment GB' thread from GB Chat, itself an extension of this and this started way back in July and finally here ....

This is the place to sign-up for the 'Lend-Lease Equipment GB', state your entry, chat with others who are joining the GB. We had varying numbers of responses, but an indication that aircraft, vehicles, and ships would be well-represented ....

Thanks John, I am lancfan and along with Justin1980 will be GB leaders for this build.

This GB has tremendous scope and covers many types of subject as shown by this list of what was supplied, there will be other things and if anyone knows of other machines please tell us all about them.

I'm in with one of the Lend-Lease/Destroyers-for-Bases, the flush-deck four-stack Wickes Class USS Buchanan which became HMS Cambeltown, portrayed during her Atlantic duties, prior to being tagged for Operation Chariot.

The base kit will be the Mirage Hobby 1/400 HMS Montgomery, suitably modified.

I'm going to start with a couple of 1/76 AFVs- Montgomeries' Grant command tank from El Alamein and a Soviet Churchill,
following those up with a pair of 1/72 aircraft, a P-51K in RAF service and a Soviet Hurricane.

The Dreaded Lurgy seems to have landed on me at the moment. However, I do have a Frog Mustang II to do in RAF Ocean grey/dark green/medium sea grey with invasion stripes once I recover. :)

Cheers

I was just thinking of Eagle Squadron stuff and thought that it would depend on the time frame. Eagle Squadron for the most part was RAF but they used the Spitfire in U.S. marking after becoming the 4th Fighter Group. That is my take anyhow.

I was thinking about the 1/48th Airfix Hurricane but would be better served by the Spit V.

I was thinking of building the Tamiya 1/48 Wildcat as a Royal Naval Martlet does that fit in with the GB?

I'm in on this for sure. I have several candidates for the build. I am doing one of them for the Flying boat build (Catalina)
I'll let you all know what I'll attack very soon. I may even do a build poll to decide.

All the best.

I have a Revell, Supermarine Spitfire Mk 5 that needs putting together. I reckon it would look smart in USSR garb, I will have to replicate my own decals though.
