Splash's Mustang IV ***finished***

Post by splash »

I will be building the new 1/72 Airfix Mustang IV.

I had originally intended to build a Tamiya 1/48 Wildcat as an RN Martlet but due to a planned holiday and other clashing GB's I did not think I would have time, so I thought a quick OOB build of the new Mustang would be achievable.

Airfix have done a really good job on this kit the panel lines although still to big for my taste are much better than the new spitfires and hurricanes.

The part fit is spot on and a really nice touch is you can drop the flaps. I'm going to enjoy this build.

Let me get this off my chest, I would like to shout out load "I'M NOT A MUSTANG MAN I LIKE SPITFIRES".

Now having got that off my chest I have to say this kit is an absolute pleasure to build.

The fit is first class, you don't need any filler, just look at the wing and tail plane joints in the photo they look just like the panel lines. The build is straight forward and very logical, for example you get two sets of flaps so you can build them up or down.

If you are (unlike me) into Mustangs then this kit should be high in you build list get out and buy them before they are all gone, the more people who go out and buy this kit the more chance Airfix will make more kits of this quality.
