ARA398's (Adrian) Secret Santa Build 2012 **DONE!!**

What did your Secret Santa send you this Christmas? Have you been naughty or nice? Did you get a Trumpeter 1/48 Lump of Coal, or a nice old Airfix classic? Your builds should be chronicled here, starting Decmber 25th (ho, ho, ho!) and lasting through January 31st. Admins: Brickie and Paul Bradley

Thanks fellas, very much appreciated!

This build is going down to the line. Satin coat, cannon, canopy and a few minor paint touchups to go tomorrow.

Just in case I get hit by a bus  , here's where I'm up to (excuse the flash pics, but the sun went down some time ago...)

Fingers crossed - I really want to avoid disappointing my SS after they've gone to so much trouble...

Thanks for looking,
Adrian

Wasn't sure until about 10 minutes ago - but I'm done!

Apologies again for the flash pics, I'll take some proper ones in daylight for the gallery.

Paintbrush handle has to stay there until the satin varnish hardens.

I'd like to thank all of you for your unstinting support and encouragement - couldn't have done it without you!

I'd especially like to thank my SS for their inspired gift - I couldn't think of a better kit for Christmas!

This build has been a series of firsts for me;
First group build
First use of wet'n'dry sandpaper used wet only - I'm definitely not going back to dry!
First use of Tamiya primer in a can - great product!
First model finished solely with acrylic paint - Gunze and Tamiya
First model with my new twin action Paasche (been using a single action Paasche for the last 20+ years)

So, not only was I chuffed to receive this great kit from my SS, I'm now doubly chuffed to have finished it - and by the deadline (with 22 minutes by Oz time left)!

Thanks Chaps!

Awesome work Adrian. I hope the two of these I have in the stash turn out anywhere near as good as this one, if they do I'll be a very happy bunny.

All the best.
