Never mind a Felixstowe, the lad's seemingly incapable of a simple Albatros completion!
(I'm thinking he'd be better sticking to DR.I's and DVII's).

Bruce

Re: mmD's Roden Albatros D 1
There isn't a lot of rigging to worry about, to be honest.
I attached my struts thusly...
Main struts to bottom wing, with superglue gel. Practically vertical.
Place upper wing, underside up, onto a flat surface.
With model upside down, place it onto upper wing.
Adjust model until it is above the centre of the upper wing.
By now, the glue should've set enough for you to carefully lift the model and turn it the right way up. At this point, I applied a little accelerator, leaving the main struts firmly attached to the bottom wing.
I then attached a cabane strut to the fuselage, again, with superglue gel, and then inverted the model again, over the upturned, upper wing. This time, with the main struts supporting the model, I allowed the cabane to drop down to the upper wing. Let Gravity be your friend!
Go get a drink.
Upon returning, repeat with second cabane.
This "should" mean that you can, with the model the right way up, place the upper wing on top of the struts and everything should be hunky dory. This gives you the opportunity to paint stuff that may be tricky with the upper wing attached.
Alternatively, you could simply go ahead and glue the upper wing in place.
Now let's see some pictures!
(No pressure )

Bruce

Re: mmD's Roden Albatros D 1
I saw the tile method and will defintitely follow that..
I've had a setback or two.. realised that the lower wings were attached too high so have removed them.. just getting ready to reattach. The engine has also decided to come loose.. I'm sure I can fix it into position when I put on the prop etc
On the bright side, I've painted the green onto the top wings and started the spots onto the rudder and upper fuselage..
I'll chuck up some photos shortly but this machine is way behind where I'd hoped to be a few days ago. But I guess that's Roden (and my cackhandedness)

Fix the engine NOW, before you cover the model with lots of fragile struts and things!
You need to ensure that it's at the right position for the prop and your model should be at its most robust as it is now.
(It's a delicate little thing, even when rigged).
Regards,
Bruce

Oh, aye..
I've got the cowling on and curing as we speak.. prop and nosecone next, which should hold Herr Mercedes DIII in place nicely. Before the fragile stuff happens.

O have been making (some) progress..
Wings re attached, tailplane on (needed some serious trimming to fit) and the wing struts on.. hopefully aligned right.
Sorry about quality of photo.. using the mobile jobbie

Nice work, that pattern looks interesting.

Getting there, Mike.
I notice a current absence of fin. I usually find the fin becomes useful, when I'm placing my upside down model upon the upper wing.
Regards,
Bruce

Fin went on shortly after this photo was taken. Letting it all get a good cure before we proceed to wing mounting/rigging

Mike,
Great progress! Looks as if it's a Roden learning experience, too.
