AndrewR's Tamiya Kettenkrad 1/48 *** Fertig! ***

What did your Secret Santa send you this Christmas? Have you been naughty or nice? Did you get a Trumpeter 1/48 Lump of Coal, or a nice old Airfix classic? Your builds should be chronicled here, starting Decmber 25th (ho, ho, ho!) and lasting through January 31st. Admins: Brickie and Paul Bradley

Some German TV executives once commented that the Clangers were fluent in German, but kept swearing :ha:

Speaking of Germans, Herr Schlump is from the little-known town of Bad Lott, home of German organized crime...

Herr Schlump got a face wash with the Vallejo fleshtone wash. I also made a few balsa packages and crates, and then draped PVA soaked kleenex over them to act as tarps.

Image

Then some cheap acrylic over the top to provide a base coat.

Image

Not bad, but the "tarps' need a bit of highlighting and weathering. They're too monotone at the moment.

Image

This one is almost finished to my satisfaction. It'll need matt varnish over it, particularly over the number plate decal.

cheers

The tarps are now washed, to make them look dirtier!

Image

I also washed the sides of the vehicles with umber.

Image

I'm very close to finishing - a bit of matt varnish on the front end, and a bit of dustification on the tyres.

Image

Hopefully, I'll finish over this coming weekend.

cheers

And we have a completion, the first of 2013

A big "Thank You" to Secret Santa. That was an inspired choice, just right for getting the old creative juices flowing on a diorama.

The 1/48 Goliath included in the kit will feature in another diorama later in the year.

cheers

Well done you have done a brilliant job I bet your SS has a smile on his face.

Would you recommend 1/48 scale as a good scale for AFV's ?
