Pulling alert this weekend for the employer. That means being near the computer and cell phone for call-outs.

This is nice because while waiting for the big one, I can get some modeling done.

Overall view after a pleasant time airbrushing parts before they are to hard to get to.

Here is the cab view. With careful prep work the parts seem to fall together.

About the only thing I can grow besides tomatoes is a "wheel tree".

So I am pressing on. Google searches have provided me with pics of this kit built up and a few battlefield shotds to go by.

So the progress continues.

Image

Image

Step by step, rung by rung, getting there.

One issue that is plaguing me is that none of the parts are numbered. I have 4 large wheels and 10 small wheels and not sure how they go. I noticed in pictures that there are large wheels in the front of the cab. The rear wheels of the cab appear to be smaller as the front end seems to set up higher than the rear half.

Just figuring this out is really slowing down the process of building. Going to have to look closer at the pictures to get a handle on this.

The work has skipped around a little. Working back to front as I figure out where things go. What ever is left has to go somewhere. It is a process of "illumination" as it were. If tab A goes into slot B than gizmo C must go in there..................

Latest update as I am back home again.

The cab portion is about to wrap up now. Again, for me at least, the process of elimination is working. Like when I would watch my grandmother build jig saw puzzles.

In the background is the trailer portion now with the chassis work beginning.

Light is now seen at the end of the tunnel.

Looking great Jeff, taking shape nicely. Never built this one myself but seeing your scammell I fancy adding it to the wants list.

Glad to see you got your wheels sorted out.
I've never built one either and I am kind-of tempted. But only as something to display a tank on, if that makes sense.

I agree Ian, it would look very good with a knocked out Sherman or Churchill on the trailer.

Tonight's progress and a huge sense of relief and pleasure. As you say "well chuffed." All 14 wheels touch the ground. :-D

Working out my issues with the loading ramp and sorting the kit decals.

I will roll up tissue the the canvas window covered. The windshield and smaller side windows have acetate in them. That really made a difference.

Earlier there were mentions of the box art. The instruction sheet indicates Airfix of America with replacement parts from MPC, Mt Clemens, MI.

Nice going Jeff. I remember doing this as a nipper, and appreciate the effort to get all the wheels level.
