Re: AndrewR's Small Kettenkrad
I got the first coat of paint on!Ian wrote:How about now?
The Kettenkrad has had a base coat of the lighter brown (Panzer Green Brown) which I made considerably lighter still by adding some Val Air Light Brown. I aim to make this one much lighter than the 1/48 kit.
Tomorrow it'll be time to tackle the tracks and seat
Cheers

Good job not to overspray onto the -109, Andrew.

I just put them both on the table to get the photo. They were well separated when I was doing the actual spraying...Ian wrote:Good job not to overspray onto the -109, Andrew.
An overspray like that would have been... irritating

A lick of black-grey on the tracks, tyres, hand grips and on the various grills. I still have to put the sides on.

It would be bad not to finish a tiny kit like this in a month!Ian wrote:Plenty of time - still 9 days to go.

Re: AndrewR's Small Kettenkrad
My goodness you're a busy man Andrew. I'm just now trying to fit in some time catching up on these other GBs. This looks to be a nice little kit as indeed does the set from which it has been taken. I can see from the 109 how small this model is, it doesn't look to be much longer than one of the former's tailplanes. One short burst of the airbrush was probably enough to paint it
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.
Work is the curse of the modelling classes!

Yes, it's not bad, but I've been spoilt by the nice big Tamiya versionShaunW wrote:My goodness you're a busy man Andrew. I'm just now trying to fit in some time catching up on these other GBs. I hope to get everything together tomorrow and finish this. Real life intruded today.

Re: AndrewR's Small Kettenkrad
I finally got the sides on, after a bit of a struggle.
I had to file down the locating lugs and shave a bit off the bottom of each piece, as they were rubbing against the tracks!
I spent longer fitting these two bits than I did constructing the Tamiya Kettenkrad.
Then the Spanish Inquisition turned up (unexpectedly, of course) and demanded seat cushions...
So I installed seat cushions.
Then the Equal Opportunities for Small Scale Armour representative turned up, asking for a rolled up canvas tilt on the back. After all, big kits have it...
Then I applied filler. Far too much for a small kit.
So there we are...
A typical day down in the lab
cheers

That's some good work right there, considering you had all those interruptions (doorbell must have been going like the clappers!)

Re: AndrewR's Small Kettenkrad
The doorbell fell off last year, so people have to knock loudly. It was surprising people were out, as it was the coldest day in Ottawa for ten years - high of -21C with a windchill down to -32C. Not warm.mightymikeD wrote:That's some good work right there, considering you had all those interruptions (doorbell must have been going like the clappers!)
Maybe I'll get to paint this one tomorrow.

Re: AndrewR's Small Kettenkrad
That's a lot of extra work for such a small kit. I also have one of these and was going to Blitz it next month but you're putting me off it now.

The jeep in the same set has similar issues. I have not built the Kubelwagen, but I believe that might be the best option of the three.Ian wrote:That's a lot of extra work for such a small kit. I also have one of these and was going to Blitz it next month but you're putting me off it now.
