Chip's Fujimi SU-85***Finished***
Once the hangover has subsided I will be building either:
1, Fujimi SU-85
2, Dragon King Tiger
3, Matchbox Monty's caravan
Once I know what others are building I will make my choice, to add interest and variation.
May even have a go at all three if time permits.

Dooo Itttt!Matchbox Monty's caravan
One of my favourite models as a nipper.. when I came across a battered old one in my LHS I had to have it.. even though parts are missing and Monty's outstretched arm has been amputated..

Re: Chip's Fujimi SU-85
Sorry Mike, but I decided to do the Fujimi SU-85:
If time permits I will have a go at the caravan as well.

Re: Chip's Fujimi SU-85
Having now recovered from a rather sever bout of Man-Flu, I can get down to some modelling.
Usual opening shots for the build, the kit comes in the form of two sprues of hard green plastic:
The molding is quite well detailed, with minimal flash:
The instructions are a bit basic (to be polite) with photos of a kit in stages of construction, and a translation which makes little sense at all. Mind you, I am not complaining as it could be all in Russian.
the painting guide, tracks and stickers will not be used, so modelers license will have to be incorporated:
Instructions aside, I think this could be quite a fun little build, and I like a challenge!!

Re: Chip's Fujimi SU-85
I built this one myself recently, it's a nice kit.
I wish, that I knew what was doing!
Re: Chip's Fujimi SU-85
Glad your well after Man-Flu. Having suffered with it recently I can only hope that Mrs. -new took the proper care of you.
That aside, the instructions made me smile out loud! "Left Plywood", "Side Gland Picture", "...to convenience install." Priceless!

They have given me a few giggles along the way.Ian wrote:the instructions made me smile out loud!
I have now completed "Groups Lade Body", or stage 1 as I call it:
The instructions suggest putting the 2 rear pullers (Towing Hooks) where the exhausts should go:
A lot of referring to my research material is required here! I have drilled out the exhaust stacks, and also the gun barrel:
I have decided to fit the hull sides and bottom to the main hull for spraying, I will then add the roadwheels. Three ejection marks needed removing from each side first:
They look a bit rough, but a coat of paint should cover it, plus the Christie suspension system is renown for putting large gouges down the side of the hull when going over rough ground.

It's a good job you can decipher those instructions.

Having fitted the hull sides and bottom to the main hull, it has now had a coat of primer:
Next up a coat of green and then final assembly.

That looks to have gone together well. But just look at all those wheels to go on!
