Here's the kit:
The decals are from Rising Decals. Four options for RYAF Emils.
I'll be doing the example at the top, with the prominent stripes on the rudder.
The paint job is pretty simple: RLM-65 underneath and RLM-70 on top.
cheers
Andrew

Re: AndrewR's Royal Yugoslav Airforce Bf-109E
Well, I just washed the sprues, and I agree with Shaun's assessment, it looks like a gem of a kit. The detail level is impressive.
It's very similar to the new tool Zero I build last month, which I described as the "Best Airfix kit I had ever built":
My expectations for this one are now very high
I may get to do a little more this evening.
Cheers
Andrew

An unexpected extra half hour of modelling.
Some light grey primer was sprayed about in the general vicinity of the kit sprues.
Cheers

And I even had time to spray a bit of RLM 02 on the interior, and a bit of steel on a few of the metallic parts. I've decided to do this without the pilot figure, with the flaps down a bit.

I am also going to build mine on the ground, with no pilot and dropped flaps. And you appear to be a bit further along than me with the painting.
I'm a mostly full-time modeller put a part-time poster....

Well, I had the airbrush going after painting the Skyray yellow, so I managed to put down the RLM02 for the cockpit and the wheel wells, plus a bit of Steel for the undercarriage and wheels.Ian wrote:I am also going to build mine on the ground, with no pilot and dropped flaps. I had a brain failure and painted the flaps dark grey - I thought I was painting the insides not the outsides. At that point I stopped! Note to self. Order brain memory upgrade
Cheers

Your RLM 02 looks darker then mine. I assume its because of the brand difference but your's looks more like olive or interior green where the one I have seems to be paler. By no means is this a criticism just an observation

Re: AndrewR's Royal Yugoslav Airforce Bf-109E
RLM what?!? I'm going to use Tamiya German Grey with a lighter grey highlight - or is Tamiya GG the same as RLM 02? or should I use more of a Field Grey colour? I'm also planning to build a machine on the ground with the flaps down and canopy closed.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

It's the Vallejo Air RLM 02. It does have a slight greenish tint to it, but I think the photo exaggerates it a bit. It is called light grey green mind! I'd like to get a photo in natural light.Dirkpitt289 wrote:Your RLM 02 looks darker then mine. Shaun, X22 RLM grey is the Tamiya equivalent I think. If you want the cockpit in RLM 66, dark grey, use X24.

Alas no, all I have in is the blended stuff. Tastes OK mixed with some ginger ale though!AndrewR wrote:

Careful, getting close to heresy again, and you know what that means...ShaunW wrote:Alas no, all I have in is the blended stuff. Tastes OK mixed with some ginger ale though!AndrewR wrote:
