Eans Emil * * * Complete * * *
Eans Emil * * * Complete * * *
See what I did with the title? Sometimes I amaze myself!
No box pic yet as I haven't taken one. And seeing as I am 55 miles from home and I don't finish for another 2 1/4 hours it will have to wait. Probably till Tuesday afternoon, when I get up after my last night shift. Lucky me - working Christmas Day dayshift AND New Years Eve nightshift.
I don't want sympathy, mind. Unless you really feel the need.

I'm not jumping the gun. It is the 2nd of Jan - if you live East of India.
Box
Paint scheme and decals
Box contents
Sprues
And I have made a start on the painting.
Actually I assembled the tub before painting. I am sure I can get the decals for the IP in place while it is together.
All needs another coat and yes, as this is OOB I am using H31.
But only until Humbrol release their RLM enamels which were due last year.
Initial feel and dry fitting of wings and fuselage show a great deal of promise so far. I am excited!

Re: Eans Emil
Good start EIan. Have you looked at the IP decals yet? They seem to be rather larger than the panels themselves!

Re: Eans Emil
I agree with your assessment of the over-large IP decals, Andrew. I have a sharp pair of scissors for that task and am quite happy to trim them down to the right size as not a lot will be seen through the (closed) canopy when it's done.

I awoke far too early today but have made the most of it by giving everything a second coat and assembling the wings. All before 8am!

Re: Eans Emil
I've taken a pic of the IP panel and the IP decals side by side to illustrate Andrews point about them being a bit on the large side.....

Thanks for doing that photo comparison Ian.

Re: Eans Emil
Thanks for that heads up Ian. My IP is drying right now so I didn't get to the decal yet. The problem I have (not really a problem more of a "Huh" moment) is that from what I've read the IP is suppose to be black.

Re: Eans Emil
I think you're probably right about the colour, Dirk. My references say the same.
A shame Hornby haven't done their homework.

Re: Eans Emil
Considering how much will actually be seen its not a big deal. The good thing is it can easily be corrected if one choose to.Ian wrote:I think you're probably right about the colour, Dirk. My references say the same.

Re: Eans Emil
I would also agree that the IP should be black Ian. Good work so far, you're off to a quick start! Thanks for the pics re the instrument decal, to be forewarned etc etc...
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Re: Eans Emil
I'm doing the E-3 version, so I think the IP is going to be RLM-02

Re: Eans Emil
Beleave me I know squat about these aircraft but what I read even the early models with the RLM02 interiors had Black IP. I'll be the last person to say any way is wrong over the other and I'm sure there are plenty of people that could point out examples to the likewise. Its just something I read.AndrewR wrote:I'm doing the E-3 version, so I think the IP is going to be RLM-02

Re: Eans Emil
As I understand it, the E3 was RLM02 interior, and the E4 was RLM66. However, the later E3s started using components for E4s, so there was some mixing of greys.Dirkpitt289 wrote:Beleave me I know squat about these aircraft but what I read even the early models with the RLM02 interiors had Black IP. As far as the blackness of the IP goes, it looks to me that it would be best represented in this scale as a very dark grey, with the dials in black

As in this picture, I'd use a darker grey than RLM66 to portray the panel itself
