I went out for a coffee this morning, does that count? I even had a vegan spelt biscuit to go with it.

Let's hope the replacement arrives soon Steve. It looks good otherwise.

Cheers

Still awaiting the replacement. the pieces for the devastator were requested at 8.30 P.M. Wednesday and received first thing on Friday morning - very impressive. This time not quite so fast. I hope it does arrive on time.

Apologies for the blurry pictures, I find it looks better that way!
I thought it might be due to the four cans of Pilsner that I've had tonight :ha: (well it is Saturday night after all, don't let it be said that modellers don't know how to live it up!)

What happened to the canopy Steve? did it crack getting it off the uber large sprue gates that Airfix have blessed this kit with?
Shaun,

If I had four cans of lager, I wouldn't have been able to even hold the camera!

I think the canopy was stressed by being caught up in the tussle between the other sprues on its obviously less than tranquil passage from India, which left me with the two sprues jammed together, a warped wing and a bent cockpit floor.

It didn't crack, as despite the kit itself being almost brittle (at least in comparison to all the other Airfix kits I have built) the canopy was very soft, and this part also very thin. I just put a piece of masking tape on and it cracked.

Dropping it, and then standing on it in the resulting search probably just administered the coup de grace

Oh dear Steve, it sounds like you had cracking fun with the canopy. I hope Airfix can get the replacement to you sharpish - don't they know there's a GB on with a deadline to meet?

I think Airfix are now using a different grade of grey plastic - the Zero kit was quite brittle too. I was very, very careful taking the canopy off the sprues. I have a long line of communication to Airfix Customer Service!

The saga continues!

Got this from Airfix/Hornby today;

We have the spares that you have requested.

We would ask for a payment of £ 2.00 POUND STERLING towards the cost of the spare and the P+P.

Payment can be made in two ways.
----------------------------------------

Now, as the part I crushed didn't belong to this kit as first thought, it was just damaged in transit, paying for a replacement, especially almost 50% of the original price seems a bit off. Or is it me?

Thanks. I did think that with so much drink being consumed hereabouts the blurry picture would cancel out the blurry vision and it would appear perfectly in focus. Seems I was wrong :)

Steve

P.s. I was just going to say, "Who do you think you are, David Bailey"? But thought better of it.

Two quid for a replacement canopy? it does seem a bit steep when the whole kit only costs about six quid. Most of the price is probably made up in the p&p Steve.

I quite often take two blurred pics for every half reasonable one I get (thank God for digital cameras nowadays  ). I've tried mounting the camera on a tripod but found the set up a bit clumsy.

Two quid for a spare might be reasonable, but not if it's a replacement for a broken or defective part. That should be free, gratis and for nothing.

Yes, I would second that emotion. A replacement for a faulty part should be free.

That would be a helpful section to the forum like with the kit review section. A section that list the contact info of all the kit manufactures to source replacement parts. Hummmm
