Did you use an applicator? If you didn't, have a look on ebay for them, there are quite often 'home-made' ones (that look like a tea-strainer on a tennis racket handle) that work pretty well, and don't cost the enormous sums that the branded versions attract! Example:

Thought I'd stick my beak in to say that's a stunning build and those are a nice pair of kits. Quite rare too. I built the owl many years ago, I think I still have the dead mouse from it some place. That was very useful when I wanted to play a trick on the woman my dad married after Mum passed away - god she did scream
