coming along nicely, doing a great job knowing how quick acrylics dry like the idea of drilling the mouth out to give him a more aggressive look

'....out of my comfort zone' ?! I'd say that you have an 'Access All Areas' pass
That is looking superb already.
Wish I'd seen one of those kits available before the books GB, as that would lend itself very nicely for conversion to one of the racier Flashman at The Charge reprint covers.

the problem is, I jumped on the Air Brush bandwagon at an early stage and over the years, I have got what I like to think, quite quite proficient, but this has been at the expense of other skills like using the hairy stick.Purplethistle wrote:'....out of my comfort zone' ?! So for me this is a challenge to build a figure. because using a brush and trying to paint shadows and highlights is not skills I have needed for years.

For the lancers webbing and horse harness Airfix has supplied a small oblong of plastic card and a template for cutting the webbing, whilst this is a good simple solution in the past I found using foil better.
Today at work I opened an oblong catering jar of Nescafé coffee and found it had a thick aluminium seal with a dimple pattern, as you can see from the images below, by simply burnishing the surface on a smooth plastic chopping board using the plastic handle of a pair of scissors, the dimples have disappeared producing a great source of foil for Modeling.

Re: Airfix Polish Lancer 1815 (54mm 1:32)
Airfix has done a good job on the Lance but I think the flag is to thick and stiff looking so I have started scratch building a new lance using brass rod and thin solder for the grip and strap, I plan on using the foil I found on the coffee tub for the flag and the point from the original lance.

I'm a bit worried about how to shape the flag, but I'm happy with how the lance has turned out.Clashcityrocker wrote:Great idea for the grip and lanyard Splash. This is looking very nice.
