New Hope Design white metal figures

Post by Crashpilot »

I see two sets of New Hope Design figures listed, and not for a too-steep price.
I have no experience with this manufacturer, can anyone tell me, if AIR7214 British fighter air & ground crew 1914-16,
and AIR7218 brit. fighter air & ground crew 1917-18, are worth considering?
There are not so many figures around for WWI planes, right?
Waiting for the day, when wars for territory will be something to be read about in history books only.

Can't help you with these specific sets, but I have some of their 54mm figures. Going by those, I'd say they're probably nicely done figures.

Thank you! I´ll bid on one set. The pics in the auction are blurry, but the proportions seem to be ok!
(I found images of figures of this brand, where the heads were over-sized.)

Not knowing which specific figures you refer to, I can actually think of a pretty good excuse for this in some cases. They did a large number of 54mm figures based on the artwork in the Osprey "Men at Arms" series. Some of the illustrators for that series had a tendency to rather oversize the heads. They may simply have been sticking to the reference material..

So, I ordered RFC air & ground crew. I´ll do a small review, once they come here.

Oh, I must´ve forgot something....
yes, a little review of these figs:

Plastic is more easy to photograph, the reflection from the metal makes it difficult to distinguish details.
For good close-ups, I should use an SLR camera (or in this case, not too strong artificial light might create less reflection?).
I think the figures are alright, but for fine details, resin cast ones are superior to ones from white metal, that´s why not so many
metal ones still get produced, nowadays, I guess?
Proportions are good, the heads are not oversize.
