A Snowy Hurricane
A Snowy Hurricane
Ive been wanting to do alittle dio for ages, recently it was my birthday and my mum made me a card that had a picture of a Hurricane in a wintery scene and it was then i decided i was going to recreate that scene in model form. Soo recently ive been making the bits and today finally got round to finishing it. Its a Airfix Hurricane Mk.1a with Xtradecal decals and the little figure comes from the Airfix Raf Personel set.

Re: A Snowy Hurricane
Nice. I have a Russian Hurricane that I'm planning on placing on a snowy base. Thanks for the inspiration

1. Looks excellent
2. What did you use? Look like loads of table salt
3. Cut the base off the figure

Re: A Snowy Hurricane
One small point. You need some footprints between the figure and the cart.
But a good first effort:-)

Nice idea and quite effective – it definitely sets a mood.
I agree with James and Dai that some more work on the figure. No telltale base – attach him using a cut off clothespin or similar. That will also make it easier to fix the absent footsteps.
Good work!

Very nice. I do like snow dios. I'm working my way (slowly) towards a 1/35th armour dio set in the Russian winter of '42-'43. (see my Hanomag build in the armour section).
I do feel sorry for the poor 'erk'. He looks in desperate need of an overcoat!
How about a few more details on how you achieved the impressive snow effect.

Re: A Snowy Hurricane
I was wondering about the longevity of the bicarb. The whole scene looks very nice, although I'd agree with losing the erks stand and adding footprints.

By the way, it's been bugging me for ages every time I see the RAF Personnel kit - what actually is that little cart?

Re: A Snowy Hurricane
Very pleasing. Well done! Only build would be to not have so much snow under the aircraft. Maybe a little grass poking through?
