Anyone got a clear pic of what the front of the square in take on the starboard side looks like. Most of the pics I can find are form the port side or are a different mark with a round intake. I want to know if it should have a grill flush, inset or none at all.

Is this any good James?

The canopy has finely raised panel lines marking the edge of the framing rather than the usual raised framing. Though the lines are more to scale they are a buggger to find under masking tape so I was hoping to report my first successful use of parafilmM. However dispite following Mike Grants SAMi article I didn't have much luck - I think my roll of parafilm is too old as it bloomed white in places on stretching. It would adhere fine in some areas but not in others, the tiny window panes not helping. I will say though it cuts very easily without the snags that you get with masking tape.

I gave up and reverted to masking tape in the end. I could just see the framing and I wanted to get it done while we still had good weather for spraying primer. Two one hour sessions later masking done but it's now Wednesday and it's been raining all day.



Also note the bomb. I made a complete hash of thinning the fins so removed the damaged pair and then made a complete hash of cutting a slot for a new one. Shims of plastic and filler required - no one will ever know.

I made one of these when I first got into moddeling. The internal pieces are surpisingly nice for an old kit.

Over the last few weeks I got a primer coat on and then made a pigs ear of of the initial colours. I did the underside in pale blue RLM 65 and then realised I should have done the yellow nose and tail first as they would need masking off before any of the upper camo was done. Well I cut corners and ended up with a lot of yellow overspray on the RLM65. I finally got round to touching it up tonight. I've also tried to copy Softscience's lovely finishes and added some lightened RLM65 in streaks and to the middle of panels to add some subtle variation.



I think I've got it right in that it isn't noticeable but the underside doesn't look a solid block of colour.

Looks like one heck of an old kit. I like watching these old ones come together

Taken a few evening breaks from a mad bout of DIYing and gotten on with the spraying the splinter pattern. As the instructions suggest only a single colour I had a scout around the internet till I found someone else's Stuka with the standard splinter pattern from which I could copy.



I've again tried to emulate Softscience's beautiful subtle shading by roughly overspraying panels with lighter coat the the base colours. I think mine is too subtle as I can barely see it in reality let alone the photo.

Looking good James, there's something so evocative about yellow nosed Luftwaffe machines, definitely my favorite of all the schemes available.

It's been a busy few weeks and despite haveing two weeks off work recently I got zero time for modelling. The last couple of weeks though I've made an effort to just do 10 mins or so here and there to move projects along. I finally got this one done last night.

I used the Airfix decals on which the white was a little out of register though I didn't realise this until placing the fuselage serial and crosses. The crosses were well off, I gut them away from the serials and put them back on the backing paper so I could match some from the spare box. I couldn't find any of the right size though and had trimmed the old one down thank bod I put them on the backing paper as I was able to resoak and apply them without mishap! In other places I could touch any exposed white edges with paint. Swasikas were added from a SAM sheet, the Airfix decals actually settled down better over the raised detail as they were nice and thin.

Machine gun on the wings were replaced with brass tube. The landing lighting was stamped from thick foil and polythene used to cover it. The glazing for the rear gun had been left in that special safe place that no one can remember where it is and so I was forced to make a new one.

Photo show some accumulated dust which point to how long this has been sat on my workbench however it's been an enjoyable build. I really like the kit I think the surface detail looks right, giving it a solid tank like appearance.

Thats one mighty fine looking Stuka James, great result and im looking forward to seeing it on the table in a few weeks.
