Trying to get a wood effect on the barrels, first a coat of yellow sand followed by a rub over with a brown pencil topped off with a coat of clear orange.

Very neat kit. Never heard of it so following along with interest.

Here is a photo of the actual vehicle photographed at Arbroath Station in November last year.

Hopefully that will provide some inspiration for Splash to get it finished

Hey Splash any progress? Only two weeks to go you know? How is model going to get to the show?

It will be finished on time and Tom has kindly said he will bring it with him.

I'm just working on a simple base progress photos by the end of the week.

My first flight in an a/c that set me on my aviation career was in the summer of 1962 at Shoreham airfield, when my father took me up in a pleasure flight in a little Auster whilst on route to Butlins holiday camp at Bognor Regies, I was only 9 at the time, but it made me fall in love with aviation.

To celebrate my first flight, I'm building the Airfix Auster that came out in 1959 is a simple kit very fitting for the time and probably the wrong mark to the one I flew in, but who cares with my rose tinted glasses it will look right to me.

The first problem I encountered was a missing tail plane but the scale profile drawings in the plan made it easy to make a new one out of thin card stock.

I'm not sure how much detail to put into the cockpit as very little can be seen through the thick windscreen.

Progress photos when I have built a bit more.

The Scammell is looking superb. Look forward to seeing how the Auster turns out.

The Scammel is about finished just some minor tweets needed, because of its small size I have made a small base just so it fills more desk space on the day.

An excellent way to make sure such a small model doesn't get lost on the table.

That is very nice, Splash, wish I could be there to see it ...

Looks excellent. The tarp covered oil drums in particular caught my eye.
