Very nice work, John - the Churchill is particularly nice.

It is done, somewhat as I would have done it in the late 50's -- black cockpit interior, black exhausts, etc. I used Mr Kit acrylics, decidedly not late-50's but I couldn't find any Pactra paints. These were the best decal set I had, although one can see some off-registry problems, but I decided to stick with them as I wouldn't have had a stash of XtraDecals hanging around. I did more non-50's stuff, like put down Future before decaling, and then liberally soak it in Micro-Set/Sol and that got the decals mostly blended in. It also got a coat of clear flat.

The book "Wing Leader" is a 1957 Ballantine Books release, identical to the original one I still have on my bookshelf. I have no doubt the book and the model could make for a great chicken-egg discussion, but I really do not know which came first, and it may only have been a matter of minutes, hours, days anyway ....
