OK, who's idea was this 'working for a living' lark? It's a rubbish idea and really gets in the way of kit bashing.

Anyway. I have managed to paint the underside of the aircraft and there's just one more coat required topside. After that there is some touching up required then it's decal time. Hopefully I'll get round to decals at the weekend.

The bulk of the painting is done. I need to paint the exhausts and turbos and then some touching up. Also as usual I noticed something when I looked at the picture!

Re: Knock-out Dropper!, er I mean Buccaneer

Post by Narayan »

How can you lose a decal having just cut it from the decal sheet? I'm not sure of the answer but I managed it last night somehow. So this build is no longer the Knock-out Dropper. It is now Buccaneer. I'm starting to think this build is haunted.

Anyway, as you can guess I started (and finished) adding the decals last night. This morning number 1 son thought it would be a good idea to wake us at 6am. Half an hour before my alarm was due to go off. What better time to add a final coat of Klear to allow the decals to settle in. I'll give that atleast 12 hours then start adding some matt cote.

Well it's all finished and to be honest I'm not happy with the build at all. Too many small errors and I know I can do better. Having said that I have enjoyed making the aircraft and I have learnt a lot from those mishaps. It's all about progress for me and I think in a strange wway with this one I've made a lot.

It started out as Knock-out Dropper! finished off as Buccaneer.

Thanks Greg for suggesting and moderating this build. I would definitely do another B-17 group build.
