lancfans' Memphis Belle. *** FINISHED ***
I am going to build the Academy kit of the Memphis Belle. It took little while to decide just how to build this kit, as I see it there are four choices, the wartime bomber, the post-war civic memorial, the current museum exhibit or the modern film recreation. I have decided to build the original aircraft as it looked in wartime. This is the usual box shot ready for the start.

Re: lancfans' Memphis Belle.
This is the sprue shot ready for the start, to begin with I imagine there will be quite a bit of pre-assembly painting.

I like your choice, David.
This is the exact model I've been thinking of getting later. Will be following this build with big eyes
Good luck. Hope I can pick up tips and tricks.

I'll rescue you from the bottom of the heap David Another F model I see and the Belle in her wartime guise would be my choice.

Cheers shaun, I am just finishing off my typhoon for the wild Weather GB so will begin on the 'Belle tonight by spraying the interior parts in Green Chromate.

Re: lancfans' Memphis Belle.
The 'Belle has now been washed and dried, the interior forward RH waist gun position has been levelled off with filler just in case it shows through the window and the fuselage interior parts have been painted in zinc Chromate.

Re: lancfans' Memphis Belle.
Isn't this the same kit Airfix released, when the original Bit O' Lace tooling finally bit the dust? I know it's now an Academy kit, but unsure if it's this one.

Re: lancfans' Memphis Belle.
Almost that one Bruce, Airfix released the B-17G version of this kit. A number of sprues were different including the fuselage sides (different window cut outs) it still suffered from the same outlandish dihedral.

Re: lancfans' Memphis Belle.
The interior detail is being assembled using the fuselage as a jig, because the W/OP position is visible from the overhead rear observation window over the position I am extending these details using plastic card and a few of the generous number of kit spares.

Good start
