Saxon to the rescue with a SB-17! ***MISSION ACCOMPLISHED***

Post by Saxon »

I seem to have GB madness at the moment, I have had this kit for a while in my stash and I figure I can knock it out in a month so lets see if I have bitten off more then I can chew!

I have one of these in the stash. It looks a beauty of a kit but will probably need the dihedral sorting with a couple of shims in the upper wing root. Looking forward to seeing your build.

All the best.

Started today, as I am going to do mine in flight and want to hang it from the ceilng as well as do my solid clear parts thing, I left out the cockpit/interior. So will have lots of spare parts with this one, including the bombs and guns.

Waiting for the putty on top to dry before sanding.

Starting to look cool. With no interior or turrets to worry about this should be a quick build.

All the best.

Yep that is what I am hoping for, just some masking for the yellow areas and black lines (The kit comes with black line decals but I think painting them would work out easier in the end).

On my last shift so with a few days off now I hope to have it done before the GB ends.

That will look great on the ceiling Saxon. I really like the look of this aircraft. So much so that I ordered one myself.

Looking good. I also have this one in the stash but plan to do a European version during WWII so still has most of its guns and not quit as colorful.

That is one good looking SB-17! Not often I see them with yellow.
Looks like a real smooth paint job too.
Confused as always, and somewhere in hiding on the Scandinavian peninsula...

I've now got a hankering to build my SB17. That is looking very nice.

Some of the pics I saw of real SB 17s were quite dirty and weathered so that is what I decided to go with so here is the most recent progress pic. I can see I have some lines to clean up too, this thing has been a masking nightmare!

Nice work on this Saxon, good job on that weathering - to me it looks like the aircraft has done some work but is not worn out.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.
