Excellent progress.

Remember, if you're doing a rocket equipped 'phoon, then either one or possibly both of the landing lights were likely covered by metal plates as it was figured that they'd be damaged by rocket exhaust anyway.

Martin
Martin the decals for the late Typhoon are for 193 squadron and the pictures turned up by Google images showed these aircraft carrying bombs, hence the landing lights, the only problem was that the kit did not include bomb racks or bombs but luckily the Tempest kit did so I have purloined these racks for the Tiffie, I still need to find a pair of 500 or 1000lb bombs but l have suitable stores in the spares box to modify for those.

The Typhoon has now been primed and the underside has been painted, the division line has been masked and the Ocean Grey camouflage base has been put down.

The dark Green disruptive has been applied and the masking removed. Varnish will be next followed by decals and matt varnish.

The undercarriage legs have been shortened and fitted and detail assembly and all painting has now been done to complete the model, I was not happy with the bombs I modified and have borrowed those from the Academy Tempest kit. This kit was bought as part of a mini theme build following the history of the typhoon, at present I think this is the best easily available Typhoon in 1/72 scale and even though it has its faults they can be corrected. with the announcement of the new tool Airfix kit I hope for even these faults to be put right, the new kit will be similar enough to the slightly cheaper Academy kit to display alongside it so will now use both kits to complete the theme, probably replacing this model with a new Airfix model.

P.S. 24/01, Having just seen a picture of the new Airfix Typhoon (wow!) this model will definately be replaced by the new kit to form a large part of the continuing theme.
